PoliticalFest - Philadelphia 2000 is holding the first-ever "World's Fair
of Politics" a festival open to the public with exhibits that include
a mock Oval Office, a walk-through Air Force One replica, interactive political
games; Washington, Jefferson and Franklin reenactors, a stage showing everything
from The Capitol Steps to Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, a live production
studio, a memorabilia fair, and even the chance to deliver a keynote address
via Teleprompter. (July 26-Aug 5)

The Convention of Bells - Every state and territory is invited to create a Liberty Bell
in a style that reflects their region, to be displayed at PoliticalFest.
This marks the second Convention of Bells in Philadelphia; the first was
in 1876 when states sent Liberty Bells to the nation's Centennial Exhibition.
Lighted Boat Parade & Fireworks
- A lighted boat parade will feature
55 illuminated boats (one for each state and territory) followed by a powerful
fireworks display will send more than one million lights into the skies
over Philadelphia and Camden, NJ. The public event will take place on July
30, at 9:00 p.m.
Summer Mummers Parade -The Mummers have been parading through Philadelphia
on New Year's Day for years in costumes that are heavy on sequins, feathers,
tradition and whimsy. This summer, Mummers residents of Philadelphia
neighborhoods will hold a special summer march for Conventioneers.

"I can't imagine a better place than for the next
president of the United States to be captured at the end of the convention
in front of the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall,'' said Jan Larimer,
head of the convention site-selection committee. ``What a great way to
start the next century.''
